SYMPTOMS

You open Chrome on your computer and it asks you to log in to Securly. What gives? All you want to do is look stuff up.

SOLUTION

In the Summer of 2021, we moved to Securly as our content filtering solution for all school devices. For most staff the migration will be transparent—Securly uses your Google login credentials for authentication, so logging in to Chrome will automatically log you in to Securly. For the best experience:

  • Make sure you are logged in to Chrome with sync enabled (read the "Sign in and turn on sync" section for details).
  • Securly may ask to use your Location. Please approve that request.
  • If you are asked to login to Securly, simply use your Google credentials.

Securly will enable us to filter content even when devices are offsite, which is required for compliance with some federal guidelines. Staff filtering will be much less restrictive than student filtering. In broad terms, staff devices will be blocked from:

  • Porn
  • Gambling
  • Drugs
  • Other adult content
  • Hate
  • Network misuse (sites that attempt to bypass the filter)

Securly also allows you to check the filtered status of sites you wish to use (to avoid surprises with students).
