SYMPTOMS

You do not see Google Drive in File Explorer's "Quick access" or "This PC" sections (Windows) or a Google Drive icon on the Desktop (Mac). You cannot save files to "My Drive" or "Shared Drives."

SOLUTION

This usually happens if Google Drive is not running on your computer.

Windows

  1. Click the Start menu in the lower left corner of your screen (it looks like a Windows icon).
  2. Find and select "Google Drive" in the list that appears.
  3. Log in to Drive with your Google credentials if asked.

Mac

  1. Go to the Finder.
  2. Select "Applications" from the "Go."
  3. Double-click on the "Google Drive" application in the list.
  4. Log in to Drive with your Google credentials if asked.

After you log in, you should be able to access Google Drive.
