If you will be leaving the Public Schools of Petoskey at the end of the school year, please see below for some important information. iPad Users — It is critical that you return your iPad in a factory reset condition so we can avoid activation issues with other users.
GOOGLE ACCOUNT
Your Google account will remain active until July 1.
You may download all of your Google content via their Takeout service (https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout).
- Select the content you wish to save.
- Make sure the content you want to download is "on," as indicated by a green check mark.
- Modify how the files are downloaded via the down arrow near the check. For example, clicking on the arrow in the "Contact" line will allow you to change the contact file format from vCard to CSV.
- Click "Next."
- Accept the defaults and click "Create archive."
Takeout does not include Drive files you do not own. If you wish to download those files, follow the directions here: Download my Google Drive files.
SURFACE/CHROMEBOOK RETURN
If you will be returning a Surface or Chromebook, you do not need to do anything other than log out of your account on the device. We will perform a full wipe of the Surface or Chromebook before assigning it to another user.
Please drop off the following items to your building media specialist or the tech office:
- Surface/Chromebook
- Charger
- Charger power cord
- Case (if issued one)
We will collect turned in units after school ends to update inventory information and re-allocate as necessary.
IPAD RETURN
If you will be returning an iPad, please make sure you have downloaded any pictures or movies you wish to keep and then restore the device to its factory defaults.
Downloading Pictures or Movies
There are several ways to download pictures and movies from your iPad.
- Directly connect your iPad to your computer.
- Upload the files to a personal Google account. (You must have a personal Google account already to follow these steps.)
Other cloud services (e.g. Dropbox, Box, OneDrive) also have mobile apps that will allow you to transfer pictures and movies through them to your computer, if desired.
Restore the iPad to Factory Defaults
NOTE: This will entirely erase your iPad.
Please follow the directions on Apple's site to completely erase your iPad: Erase your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch.
After this process is complete, please drop off the following items to your building media specialist or the tech office:
- iPad
- iPad charging block
- iPad connection cable
